Tour Highlights

Welcome to Rome and its surroundings! This is a journey that will take you up and down in the earth of Italy, across fields of hazelnuts, olive plantation and vineyard, or in the woods where you can find boletus and other mushrooms, as well as mulberries and wild strawberries. Inhabited since ancient times, Latium was also home for EtruscanItalics populations and then Romans. Despite what it is usually represented about Romans in ancient times, Rome and its environs were primarily pastoral and agricultural. The real cooking of the common man was poor kitchen “cucina povera”.

The poor Roman often ate in the streets, which later transformed into eating out while seated, and the great trattorias and osterias of Rome burgeoned. These were small family-run restaurants that served perfectly cooked, but simple dishes. These home cooks set the tone, not only for Roman cooking, but also for Roman hospitality. This tour will take us to discover ancient recipes and their origins but it will also take us along the places where ingredients come from. From the woods to the sea, you will have the chance to taste genuine food and to learn how to make dishes while walking in the Eternal City and its surroundings. Follow us on Facebook!
