Marche is the Italy that most international travellers have yet to discover. The Sibillini Mountains: part of the Apennine spine: offer some of central Italy’s finest high-altitude walking, including the Piano Grande plateau at Castelluccio, famous for its spring wildflower bloom. To the east, the Adriatic coast stretches for miles, largely crowd-free. In between: Urbino, one of Italy’s greatest Renaissance cities; Ascoli Piceno, a town built entirely of travertine; the Frasassi Caves, among the largest cave systems in Europe.

Sample programme

Arrival in the heart of the Marche region and first immersion into the landscapes of the Fiastra Nature Reserve. Walk through the ancient woodland of the Selva, one of the region’s most important protected areas, following trails among oak and hornbeam forests, cultivated fields and peaceful rural scenery. Continue with a guided visit to the Abbey of Chiaravalle di Fiastra, one of Italy’s best-preserved Cistercian monastic complexes, where history, spirituality and nature meet in perfect harmony.
Day 2 – Monte Conero Grand Loop: Mediterranean Views and Coastal Landscapes
End the journey with one of the region’s most surprising natural wonders. Hike through shaded woodland and panoramic trails towards the spectacular Lame Rosse, extraordinary formations of red gravel and clay sculpted over time by wind and water. Overlooking the turquoise waters of Lake Fiastra, this unique landscape offers one of the most striking geological environments in the Marche and the perfect finale to the experience.
