Food & Wine
Italy at its most generous
Italian food is not a cuisine. It is a collection of regional traditions, each with its own ingredients, techniques, seasons and producers, built up over centuries in response to a specific landscape and climate. The food of Abruzzo has almost nothing in common with the food of Sicily. Barolo and Amarone are both Italian wines and come from completely different worlds.
Italy Explore designs food and wine tours that go into the depth of these traditions: behind the restaurant and the wine list, into the kitchen, the cellar, the truffle wood and the olive grove.
Behind the table
A food and wine tour with Italy Explore is not a series of restaurant bookings. It is access: to the producers, the farmers, the vintners and the specialists who make Italian food culture what it is. We work with family estates that do not advertise, with local food artisans whose work you will not find in a supermarket, and with cooks who learned in someone’s grandmother’s kitchen. The meals matter. The conversations at those meals matter just as much.
