From the Via Francigena’s medieval pilgrimage route to Rome, to regional trails like the Cammino di San Vili and the Sentiero del Castagno, we design multi-day walking itineraries with carefully chosen accommodation, luggage transfers, and local support along the way.
Our caminos
Day 1 – Bologna
Individual arrival in Bologna and meeting with the tour leader. In the afternoon, introduction to the trekking program followed by a short guided walk through the city’s historic centre. Overnight stay in Bologna.
Day 2 – Bologna → La Commenda di Battedizzo
The trek begins along the iconic Portico di San Luca before leaving Bologna through the Parco della Chiusa and the Reno River valley. After passing the San Gerardo Nature Oasis, the walk ends at La Commenda di Battedizzo, followed by a short transfer to Sasso Marconi. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 – Battedizzo → Monzuno
Today’s hike climbs to Monte Adone, rewarded with spectacular panoramic views, before crossing the Contrafforte Pliocenico Nature Reserve, renowned for its remarkable geological formations and fossils. Arrival in Monzuno with time to relax before dinner.
Day 4 – Monzuno → Madonna dei Fornelli → Passo della Futa
A fascinating stage along the ancient Roman Flaminia Militare and the historic Gothic Line of World War II. Passing forests, mountain ridges and wartime fortifications, the route reaches Passo della Futa and the nearby German Military Cemetery. Short transfer to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 – Passo della Futa → San Piero a Sieve
Leaving the Apennines behind, the trail crosses Monte Gazzaro before descending through rolling Tuscan hills to the charming village of San Piero a Sieve. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6 – San Piero a Sieve → Bivigliano → Vetta Le Croci
A steady climb leads to the Monastery of Monte Senario, where breathtaking views stretch from the mountains to Florence. After visiting the monastery, the trek continues to Vetta Le Croci before a short transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7 – Vetta Le Croci → Florence
The final stage offers the first panoramic views of Florence, passing through the historic hill town of Fiesole before reaching the city. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided visit of Florence. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8 – Florence
Free time to explore Florence according to your departure schedule, or transfer to the airport. End of services.
Day 1 – Bressanone (Brixen)
Arrival and meeting with the tour leader at the hotel in the late afternoon. Introduction to the Isarco Valley and the Chestnut Trail itinerary. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 – Novacella → Velturno (Feldthurns)
After a visit to the beautiful Novacella Abbey, the Chestnut Trail officially begins. Walking through ancient chestnut groves, vineyards and traditional South Tyrolean farmsteads, the route passes Varna, Pinzago and Tecelinga before reaching the charming village of Velturno. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 – Velturno → Barbiano (Barbian)
The longest and most demanding stage leads through the rural hamlet of Pradello to the spectacular hilltop Monastery of Sabiona overlooking Chiusa. After exploring the medieval town, the trail continues through vineyards, chestnut woods and picturesque villages before arriving in Barbiano. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 – Barbiano → Longomoso (Lengmoos)
Crossing the panoramic suspension bridge above the Barbiano Waterfalls, today’s walk offers magnificent views of the Dolomites, including the Alpe di Siusi and Rosengarten massifs. Passing churches, forests and orchards, the route reaches the peaceful village of Longomoso. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 – Longomoso → Bolzano (Bozen)
The final stage descends through forests, vineyards and traditional farms, with spectacular views over the lower Isarco Valley. Highlights include the impressive Earth Pyramids before the trail continues to Santa Maddalena and finally reaches Bolzano, marking the end of the Chestnut Trail. End of services.
Day 1 – Arrival in Lecce
Individual arrival in Lecce and meeting with the tour leader in the afternoon. Enjoy a walking tour through the historic centre, discovering the city’s magnificent Baroque architecture, with its churches, palaces and elegant squares. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 – Lecce → San Foca
The first stage of the Salento Way begins at the Basilica of Santa Croce and continues through the villages of Merine and Acaya. Crossing the WWF Le Cesine Nature Reserve, the route reaches the coast and follows the shoreline to the lively seaside town of San Foca. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 – San Foca → Otranto
A spectacular coastal walk passing Roca Vecchia, the famous Grotta della Poesia (Poetry Cave), Torre dell’Orso and the striking Faraglioni of Sant’Andrea. Through pine forests, cliffs and sandy beaches, the trail leads to the beautiful town of Otranto. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 – Otranto → Santa Cesarea Terme
After visiting Otranto, the walk continues to the impressive Bauxite Quarry, the Punta Palascia Lighthouse and the beautiful bay of Porto Badisco. Following paths through Mediterranean scrubland, the route reaches the elegant spa town of Santa Cesarea Terme. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 – Santa Cesarea Terme → Marina Serra
Today’s stage follows the spectacular coastline through the charming villages of Castro and Castro Marina. Highlights include the stunning Cala dell’Acquaviva and Tricase Porto before arriving in the picturesque village of Marina Serra. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6 – Marina Serra → Santa Maria di Leuca
The final day of walking follows the scenic Sentiero delle Cipolliane and the dramatic Ciolo Fjord, offering breathtaking views over the cliffs and the sea. The journey ends at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria di Leuca, marking the completion of the Salento Way. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7 – Santa Maria di Leuca → Lecce
Free morning or optional excursion to the sea caves of Leuca. Return to Lecce in the afternoon with free time to explore the city’s hidden corners. Farewell dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8 – Lecce
Breakfast, check-out and end of services.
Day 1 – Amelia → Renewable Energy Park (P.E.R.)
The journey begins in Amelia, following its ancient Cyclopean walls and the Rio Grande canyon, through holm oak forests and sections of the historic Via Amerina. After a stop in the charming village of Sambucetole, the trail continues through Mediterranean woodlands to the picturesque hamlet of Collicello. Arrival at the Renewable Energy Park (P.E.R.) for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 – P.E.R. → Porchiano del Monte (via Macchie)
Today’s hike leads through majestic holm oak forests, chestnut groves and rolling hills to the village of Macchie. The route continues across woodland trails and open meadows to Porchiano del Monte, where you’ll enjoy a scenic walk along its medieval walls. Return to the P.E.R. for dinner.
Day 3 – Porchiano del Monte → Fornole (via Montecampano)
Today’s route crosses vineyards, open countryside and Mediterranean scrub, passing the Convent of the SS. Annunziata and the historic Comunità Incontro at Molino Silla. After walking through Montecampano and its fossil-rich clay valley, the trail reaches the village of Fornole. Return to the agriturismo for dinner.
Day 4 – Fornole → Amelia
The final stage follows woodland paths and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the Tiber Valley, passing through Foce and the Rio Grande valley. The route returns to Amelia along the ancient Via Amerina and its impressive polygonal walls. At the Archaeological Museum, pilgrims present their stamped credential and receive their completion certificate beside the famous bronze statue of Germanicus.
Day 1 – Arrival in Sante Marie
Individual arrival in Sante Marie and meeting with the tour leader. Visit the Museum of Brigandage, housed in Palazzo Colelli, to discover the fascinating history of the local brigands through original documents and historical artefacts. Dinner and overnight stay in a traditional walkers’ accommodation.
Day 2 – Sante Marie → Santo Stefano
After collecting the pilgrim credential (Salvacondotto), the Cammino officially begins with a gentle first stage. Before departure, there is time to admire the village murals and the province’s first “Big Bench.” Arrival in Santo Stefano for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 – Santo Stefano → Nesce
Today’s walk crosses meadows and forests, offering magnificent views of the Duchessa Mountains and the Velino Massif. The stage ends in the peaceful village of Nesce, where dinner and overnight accommodation await.
Day 4 – Nesce → Torano
Following the river through a scenic valley, the route continues beneath Monte Rose before reaching the village of Torano. Dinner in the village and overnight stay.
Day 5 – Cartore Loop
A circular hike offers a choice between two routes, both leading through the spectacular landscape surrounding Lake Duchessa. Return to the charming village of Cartore for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6 – Cartore → Rosciolo
The trail climbs to Passo Le Forche beneath Monte Velino before descending to Santa Maria in Valle Porclaneta, home to one of Abruzzo’s finest 10th-century Romanesque churches. The day ends in the medieval village of Rosciolo. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7 – Rosciolo → Scurcola Marsicana
Walking through mountain gorges and beneath Monte Velino, the route reaches Massa d’Albe and the remarkable archaeological site of Alba Fucens before continuing to Scurcola Marsicana. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8 – Scurcola Marsicana → Sante Marie
The final stage follows country trails through San Donato and the ruins of an ancient castle before returning to Sante Marie. Collection of the completion certificate, followed by a celebratory dinner and overnight stay.
Day 9 – Sante Marie
Breakfast and departure. End of services.
Day 1 – Florence → Impruneta
Arrival in Florence and guided visit of its UNESCO-listed historic centre. The trek begins through the hills south of the Arno River, passing the magnificent Certosa del Galluzzo before reaching Impruneta, renowned for its terracotta craftsmanship and the beautiful Piazza Buondelmonti. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 – Impruneta → Greve in Chianti
Today’s walk enters the heart of the Chianti region, where vineyards, cypress-lined hills and oak woods create one of Tuscany’s most iconic landscapes. Along the way, visit the Romanesque church of Santo Stefano, the Abbey of Passignano and the charming medieval village of Montefioralle before arriving in Greve in Chianti. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 – Greve in Chianti → Radda in Chianti
The trail follows scenic ridgelines and open meadows, offering a different perspective of the Chianti countryside. Highlights include the historic Abbey of Badia a Coltibuono before descending to the peaceful medieval village of Radda in Chianti. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 – Radda in Chianti → Corsignano
Leaving behind the famous vineyard landscapes, today’s route crosses quiet forests and rolling hills to the historic Castle of Vagliagli, a noble residence dating back to the 9th century. The walk ends in the small village of Corsignano. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 – Corsignano → Siena
The final stage leads through the gentle Tuscan countryside towards the magnificent city of Siena. After passing the Basilica dell’Osservanza, the trek concludes in the spectacular Piazza del Campo, one of Italy’s most iconic squares. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6 – Siena
Morning at leisure to explore Siena’s UNESCO World Heritage historic centre before departing in the afternoon. End of services.
Day 1 – Madonna di Campiglio
Arrival and meeting with the tour leader at the hotel in the late afternoon. Introduction to the stunning Brenta Dolomites and the itinerary of the San Vili Way. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 – Madonna di Campiglio → Pinzolo
The San Vili Way officially begins after collecting the pilgrim credential in Madonna di Campiglio. Descending through forests to Carisolo and Pinzolo, the route includes a visit to the Church of San Vigilio, renowned for its remarkable medieval Dance of Death fresco. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 – Pinzolo → Spiazzo
Today’s walk follows the Sarca River through the Val Rendena, alternating forest trails and scenic cycle paths. Along the way, visit the picturesque Church of Santo Stefano, perched on a rocky outcrop at the entrance to Val Genova. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 – Spiazzo → Saone → Tione
Leaving Val Rendena behind, the trail climbs through spruce forests to Passo Daone before descending into the Giudicarie Valley. After reaching the village of Saone, a short public bus transfer leads to the hotel in Tione. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 – Tione → Saone → San Lorenzo in Banale
Returning to Saone, the route passes through traditional mountain villages and the abandoned medieval hamlet of Irone, deserted after the plague. The walk continues past the Rio Bianco Nature Area and Stenico Castle before arriving in San Lorenzo in Banale. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6 – San Lorenzo in Banale → Lake Santa Massenza
The trail crosses the charming villages of Deggia and Ranzo before descending to the beautiful shores of Lake Toblino. A lakeside boardwalk leads to the glacial Lake Santa Massenza, where the day’s walk ends. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7 – Lake Santa Massenza → Lake Terlago
Walking through woodland, vineyards and picturesque villages, today’s stage reaches Terlago, home to the historic castle and the Church of San Pantaleone. The route continues around the northern shore of the peaceful Lake Terlago. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8 – Lake Terlago → Trento
The final stage follows gentle forest tracks towards Trento, ending at the Cathedral of San Vigilio in Piazza Duomo. After collecting the final stamp and the official Testimonium, the San Vili Way comes to a memorable conclusion. End of services.
Day 1 – Villa Vallelonga
Arrival in Villa Vallelonga and transfer to the Prati d’Angro Mountain Refuge. Introduction to the trekking program, dinner and overnight stay. Weather permitting, enjoy an optional night walk to experience the sounds and wildlife of the National Park.
Day 2 – Villa Vallelonga → Pescasseroli
The first trekking stage crosses the beautiful Prati d’Angro to Aceretta Pass, offering spectacular views of Pescasseroli and the Marsicano Massif. The route then descends through magnificent beech forests to Pescasseroli, the heart of the Abruzzo National Park. Evening stroll through the historic centre. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 – Pescasseroli → Val Fondillo
Today’s hike reaches the Sanctuary of Monte Tranquillo before crossing the panoramic Macchiarvana Plateau, an excellent area for spotting deer and other wildlife. The trail then descends through Valle Fredda to the beautiful Val Fondillo. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 – Val Fondillo → Civitella Alfedena
Starting from the former sawmill, now the Forest Museum, the trail climbs through ancient beech forests to Forca Resuni Refuge at 1,952 metres. After enjoying breathtaking mountain views, the descent leads to Civitella Alfedena, followed by a visit to the Wolf and Lynx Wildlife Centre. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 – Civitella Alfedena → Barrea
A relaxing walk connects the villages of Civitella Alfedena and Barrea, following scenic trails overlooking the beautiful Lake Barrea. Along the way there are excellent opportunities for wildlife observation before visiting the charming medieval village of Barrea. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6 – Barrea → Passo Godi
Today’s challenging stage climbs to Monte Greco (2,143 m), the highest point of the trek, offering magnificent views across the Abruzzo National Park. Arrival at Passo Godi for dinner and overnight stay in a mountain refuge. Optional evening walk under the star-filled sky.
Day 7 – Passo Godi → Pescasseroli
The final trekking stage follows ancient shepherds’ paths beneath Monte Marsicano, passing the traditional Stazzo di Ziomas and the colourful meadows of Prato Rosso before returning to Pescasseroli. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8 – Pescasseroli
Visit the Abruzzo National Park Wildlife Recovery Centre and meet a park expert to learn about its conservation projects and native wildlife. Departure and end of services.
Day 1 – Siena
Arrival in Siena, check-in and meeting with the tour leader. Depending on arrival time, enjoy a guided visit of the UNESCO-listed historic centre, including the magnificent Cathedral and the city’s famous medieval streets. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 – Siena → Monteroni d’Arbia
The Via Francigena begins through vineyards, olive groves and the iconic landscapes of the Crete Senesi. The walk ends in Monteroni d’Arbia before transferring to San Quirico d’Orcia for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 – Monteroni d’Arbia → Buonconvento
Today’s route crosses the heart of Tuscany’s wine country, passing rolling hills, rural landscapes and historic farmhouses before reaching the charming medieval village of Buonconvento. Return to San Quirico d’Orcia for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 – Buonconvento → Torrenieri → San Quirico d’Orcia
Walking through vineyards and cultivated countryside, the trail reaches the historic village of Torrenieri, once an important stop along the Via Francigena. The day ends in the beautiful medieval town of San Quirico d’Orcia. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 – San Quirico d’Orcia → Bagno Vignoni
A spectacular stage across the UNESCO-listed Val d’Orcia, featuring the unique landscapes of the Crete Senesi, cypress-lined hills and medieval castles. Highlights include the historic spa village of Bagno Vignoni before returning to San Quirico d’Orcia. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6 – Bagno Vignoni → Castelnuovo dell’Abbate
The route follows quiet white roads through the rolling countryside of the Val d’Orcia to the picturesque village of Castelnuovo dell’Abbate, overlooking the magnificent Abbey of Sant’Antimo. Transfer to Montalcino for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7 – Castelnuovo dell’Abbate → Montalcino
The final stage winds through Mediterranean woodland and vineyards before reaching Montalcino, world-famous for its Brunello wine. Free evening and overnight stay.
Day 8 – Departure
Breakfast and transfer to the departure airport. End of services.
Day 1 – Viterbo → Vetralla
The journey begins just outside Viterbo, with a detour to the ancient Roman ruins of Ponte Camillario. Crossing peaceful woodland and open countryside, the route continues to the ruins of the Romanesque Church of Santa Maria di Forcassi before reaching Vetralla. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 – Vetralla → Sutri
Starting from the 11th-century Church of San Francesco, the trail crosses the forests of Monte Fogliano, passing the Hermitage of Saint Jerome and the Sanctuary of Madonna di Loreto. After Capranica and the ancient Via Cassia, the route reaches the historic town of Sutri. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 – Sutri → Campagnano Romano
Leaving behind Sutri’s remarkable Roman amphitheatre and ancient Mithraeum, the walk follows sections of the historic Via Amerina before reaching the spectacular Monte Gelato Waterfalls in the Treja Valley Regional Park. Arrival in Campagnano Romano for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 – Campagnano Romano → Calcata
Today’s stage follows the Via Francigena through the Treja Valley Regional Park towards the enchanting medieval village of Calcata. After exploring its artists’ studios, caves and narrow streets, enjoy the unique atmosphere of this remarkable hilltop village. Overnight stay.
Day 5 – Calcata → Rome
An early morning walk leads to the panoramic meadows of Santa Maria di Castel Vecchio, offering unforgettable sunrise views over the Treja Valley and Calcata. Later, a short transfer to Rignano Flaminio is followed by a train journey to Rome, marking the end of the tour. End of services.
Day 1 – Spoleto
Arrival in Spoleto and meeting with the tour leader at the hotel. Introduction to the journey followed by a walking tour of the historic centre, including the Cathedral and the impressive Rocca Albornoziana. Overnight stay.
Day 2 – Spoleto → Campello sul Clitunno
The first stage begins with a visit to the UNESCO-listed Basilica of San Salvatore before crossing olive-covered hills and peaceful medieval villages. Passing through Bazzano Superiore and Poreta, the trail reaches Campello sul Clitunno. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 – Campello sul Clitunno → Trevi
Walking through the ancient olive groves of the Umbrian Valley, the route passes the fortified village of Campello Alto and the Hermitage of San Giacomo before descending to Trevi. Along the way, visit the Sanctuary of Madonna delle Lacrime. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 – Trevi → Spello
A pleasant walk through the Umbrian countryside leads to Foligno before continuing along quiet country roads to the beautifully preserved medieval town of Spello. The afternoon is dedicated to exploring its Roman gates and historic streets. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 – Spello → Assisi
The final walking stage follows the slopes of Mount Subasio towards Assisi, entering the city through its ancient walls before reaching the Basilica of Saint Clare. Free time to explore the historic centre before dinner. Overnight stay.
Day 6 – Assisi
After breakfast, enjoy a guided visit to the Basilica of Saint Francis and the Cathedral of San Rufino. End of the tour and individual departure. End of services.
