Abruzzo is arguably Italy’s best-kept secret. Two-thirds of the region is protected as national or regional park: the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park, the Majella National Park, the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park: making it one of the most biodiverse places in Europe. Ancient Apennine forests, wolves, Marsican brown bears, golden eagles, and medieval villages perched on rock spurs above valleys that feel entirely untouched.
