Sardinia is unlike any other part of Italy: and proud of it. The island has its own language (Sardinian), its own cuisine, its own architectural tradition in the form of the nuraghe: bronze-age stone towers that dot the landscape in their thousands, built between 1800 and 500 BC by a civilisation that remains partly mysterious. The sea is legendary: the Maddalena Archipelago, the Costa Smeralda, the Gulf of Orosei’s sea caves: but the interior is where the island’s soul lives, in the Barbagia, among shepherds, cork forests and festivals that have continued unchanged for centuries.

Sample programme

Arrival in Sardinia and meeting with the guide in Cagliari. Depending on arrival time, enjoy a first introduction to the island with an exploratory walk through the regional capital, discovering its Mediterranean atmosphere before the beginning of the journey.
Travel to the dramatic south-western coast for a panoramic coastal hike overlooking some of Sardinia’s most spectacular seascapes. Discover the impressive remains of the Lamarmora Washery, one of the symbols of the island’s mining heritage, before continuing towards the iconic Pan di Zucchero sea stack and the beaches of Masua. Complete the day with a visit to Porto Flavia, an extraordinary masterpiece of industrial engineering carved directly into the cliffs.
Explore one of Sardinia’s most beautiful coastal landscapes with a short hike around Cala Domestica, where limestone cliffs, golden sand and turquoise waters meet the legacy of the island’s mining past. Continue with a visit to the remarkable Cave of Santa Barbara, one of the oldest caves in the world, discovering spectacular stalactites, underground chambers and unique geological formations.
Begin the day exploring Galleria Henry, one of Sardinia’s most important historical mining sites, suspended between cliffs and the sea. Learn about the life and work of local miners before moving to Capo Pecora for a scenic circular hike through one of the island’s wildest coastal environments, reaching the unusual beach known for its distinctive rounded stones, often called the “Dinosaur Eggs Beach”.
Cross to San Pietro Island and discover a different side of Sardinia shaped by maritime traditions and Genoese heritage. Walk to the panoramic cliffs of Capo Sandalo, home to Italy’s westernmost lighthouse, and enjoy views over Cala Fico and the crystal-clear sea. Continue to Carloforte, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, before returning via the fishing village of Calasetta and reaching Sant’Antioco.
Spend the morning exploring Sant’Antioco Island on foot through rugged Mediterranean landscapes overlooking dramatic cliffs and hidden coves. A final immersion into the wild character of southern Sardinia before returning to Cagliari for the evening.
Discover Cagliari from an unexpected perspective with a guided exploration of its underground passages, hidden galleries and historical layers beneath the city streets. Continue along Poetto Beach before entering the Molentargius Nature Park for an eco-safari experience among wetlands and the famous pink flamingos. End the journey with a Sardinian cooking class and tasting experience celebrating local traditions and flavours.
Breakfast and farewell to Sardinia after a journey through wild coastlines, mining heritage, Mediterranean villages and unforgettable island landscapes.
